The manager employ’s an active approach to portfolio management building a focused portfolio using a multi-disciplined approach. Top-down macro variables are considered for broad asset allocation and sector weightings, while individual securities are chosen based primarily on bottom-up value and growth parameters utilizing technical analysis to assist in the timing of investment decisions. The manager’s approach to managing the portfolio allows maximum flexibility to not only include traditional securities such as stocks and bonds but to also utilize ETFs, closed-end funds acquired at significant discounts to their NAV and hybrid securities such as convertible debentures if they have a higher risk-adjusted return potential. Risk will be controlled and opportunities exploited by allocating capital to the appropriate asset classes within the minimum/maximum range based on the outlook for the financial markets. “Bear” ETFs will be utilized from time-to-time to provide portfolio insurance and to position the portfolio to benefit from expected market drops within the minimum/maximum asset allocation range.
